Standardization is the key. 

The National Valuation Standards Institute was founded to create standardization throughout the BPO industry. We are a group of asset managers and real estate professionals who, together, have preformed thousands upon ten thousands of BPOs over the years. The National Valuation Standards Institute started as a mastermind group to bring asset managers and agents together, to open the lines of communication outside of the individual BPO, in order to facilitate efficiency and customer service from both ends of the spectrum.

As you can imagine our first few meetings were nothing more than gripe sessions, asset managers complained about real estate agents and vice versa. After a while, however, we started talking about the real problem. Every asset management company has a different way of doing BPOs and for every asset management company every valuation manager had different things they would focus on. It was at that moment we realized by creating a standard in the industry, a designation that valuation managers could look for when assigning BPOs to agents, a sign that this agent knows what they are talking about. That’s when the NVSI was born,

At the end of the day we all have the same client and the only thing that client wants is an accurate valuation of a subject property. Any one that has done a few thousand BPOs knows that there are as many ways to produce an accurate value of a property, as there are valuation managers and agents. The NVSI certification is not a method for determining the value of a property. Rather, the NVSI certification is meant to develop systems, structure and standards in the industry for both real estate agents and asset managers.
